Day -1: Grand Rapids to Chicago: Good News and Bad News

The Bad News:
- Our bus left half an hour late from Grand Rapids.
- The subway ticket machine stole our money.
- My watch stopped.

The Good News:
- Our bus arrived in Chicago in a well-lit, safe area.
- We made it to the metro station without much of a wait.
- We got to the airport just in time for our hotel shuttle.
- The cheap hotel is actually just fine.

So we arrived at the terminal at 7:45 pm at the bus stop in Grand Rapids. Unfortunately, our bus didn't get there until over an hour later. We departed around 9:15, just a half hour behind schedule. The bus ride to the Lincoln State was uneventful. We walked the short distance to the blue line clinton station and got our ticket. Unfortunately, we paid with a $10 expecting change for our 4.50 ticket... instead we got a $10 ticket. Whoops.
Then we rode the metro to the end of the line and found our hotel shuttle. Again, uneventful. The hotel is clean and has relatively nice amenities (iron, safe, hairdryer, TV). We tried to order a pizza but everything was either closed or outrageously expensive. So we walked over to White Castle for some sliders. Not too bad. Some skittles for dessert wrapped up the night.
