Day 1: Chicago to Dublin: Good News

This morning we got up around 9 and had a leisurely preparation for our maiden voyage. Watched a little HLN, ate a little Papa Johns, then went on our way around noon to O'Hare. We got to the Aer Lingus desk just moments before it opened and got the number two spot in line. Check-in was hassle-free and security went just as smoothly, making some friends as we led a group to a empty, forgotten security line, shaving probably half an hour off our wait time. We got to our terminal and waited patiently. The flight could not have been better. We were seated quickly and easily, the stewardesses were pretty and friendly (and had great accents!), the meal was great (Sweet and Sour Pork or Cheese Manicotti with a decadent triple chocolate brownie), and there was free movies! We have to give a nice plus for Aer Lingus because they truly made our travel experience smooth and easy. Added Bonus: We saw the Northern Lights from the plane! Brandon shook me awake (from my not-really sleep) and showed me what he saw when he happened to look out the window. We had a beautiful display of pale green across the sky. It was truly amazing!

Arriving in Dublin, we got into the customs line and checked e-mail, and lo and behold, more good news! Brandon got an email from UCLA about his housing assignment, which turned out to be exactly what he wanted: a single apartment in Weyburn Complex, the closest place to campus! So excited to learn that news.

Now we are sitting in the airport, waiting for the bus to start running (6:30am) and then we'll be off exploring! I suppose this is sort of Day 2 stuff now, but whatever! Talk to you soon!
